What I like about it: cheap food. What I don't like: Watching 5 "regulars" Order after me and get their food first. I wouldn't make this a regular lunch spot because of that. Took almost 30 minutes to get a to-go order. The hamburger buns are not big enough for the patty. The French fries are thin sticks of cardboard that get cold quickly. As an alternative I would suggest Monty's a couple blocks away for a great burger, only a couple bucks more.

I just love simple places! This diner is probably the same as it was decades ago! The food was simply prepared with little seasoning but the service was just unique and from a different time period. I ordered an egg sandwich with cheese - no bells and whistles here. My husband ordered something similar. The milk was milk, the OJ was OJ and the coffee was good. The waitress was attentive and all the employees seemed to be good folk from the 60s or 70s. They run out of food as the time marches forward so if there is something in particular that you must have, get there earlier than 10:45! This was a fun joint! One of those places that remind you of home.

Great breakfast.....very affordable and great waitress! We ordered the bacon and eggs, a short stack of pancakes, and a ham and egg breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were the best! They were crispy around the edges and tasted yummy! We are staying at a hotel around the corner and will probably eat there again before we leave.

You haven't lived until you've had a Slinger Scrambled! Actually you cAn get your eggs any style. Two hamburger patties with a slice if cheese on each. Hash browns. 2 eggs any style. All covered in chili. You get two slices of toast. Order the extra cheese and onions while you're at it. I always take a cold bottle of IBC with mine.

The epitome of the old-school diner. Professional wait staff-lifers!. Great prices. Great conversations with everyone there, since all of the 1950's original tables are crammed in to a small space. One drawback: only open mornings to mid-afternoon.

I've been searching for the perfect St. Louis chili and this was just one of the places on my list to visit. Since they're only open until 2pm, I managed to stop by after one of my morning classes. I wasn't too thrilled about the location or setting, as the place is pretty small and cramped. This might be nice if you're looking for the traditional dinner atmosphere but I'm not a fan. The waitresses all looked bored and disinterested in anything beyond taking the order and serving food. As for the food itself, I noticed they had a "chili-spaghetti" option, which just happens to be one of my favorite meals. However, the chili itself came out very bland and tasteless and the noodles were a bit thicker than I'd like. Overall, just not a memorable meal and I won't be going out of my way to visit again.

If you're looking for a diner in downtown St. Louis-- THis Is It! Great, cheap, fast breakfast. Friendly servers who call everyone "honey." What else do you need?
